POLICY & PRACTICES

Policy Overview

In addition to our compliance with all relevant legislation, ROC Recycling operates several policies to ensure that our clients and recycling partners can enjoy peace of mind.

Cradle to Cradle Traceability

ROC Recycling provides our recycling partners with auditable and verifiable traceability on their waste recyclables. This is our Cradle to Cradle Traceability Commitment. We deliver comprehensive and insightful monthly reports detailing the services provided.

Maximum Recycling

We recycle as much material as possible for our clients. Where we cannot recycle waste at our own facilities, we partner with other firms in Ireland or abroad to deliver a solution.

Cost-Competitiveness

Because we are able to recycle a wide variety of materials at our own facilities and via partner companies, we are able to deliver cost-competitive solutions for our clients. In some cases, we are able to make waste management a net revenue generator for businesses.

A Fully-Licensed Operator

ROC Recycling is a fully-licensed operator. Our environmental track record is clean, and we are committed to operational excellence.

Legislation

ROC Recycling operates in compliance with all relevant legislation across the island of Ireland.

Republic of Ireland

Waste disposal and recovery activities in the Republic of Ireland are governed by the Waste Management Acts of 1996 to 2011. Waste Management (Licensing) Regulations 2004 to 2011 oblige ROC to hold licenses for its activities, as do the Waste Management (Facility Permit & Registration) Regulations of 2007. You can read more about the Waste Management Acts here.

Northern Ireland

Our waste management activities in Northern Ireland are governed by the Waste and Emissions Trading Act of 2003, the Waste Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2011, the Waste and Contaminated Land (Northern Ireland) Order 1997, the Hazardous Waste Directive (91/689/EC) and the Landfill Directive (1999/31/EC). You can read more about the legislation governing waste management in Northern Ireland here.

Health & Safety

ROC Recycling is committed to ensuring the health and safety of our staff and those of our partner companies.

We comply with all relevant legislation related to waste management to ensure safety, and also ensure safety standards and practices are strictly adhered to by staff.

Our premises are inspected regularly, and operate under professionally set out guidelines to ensure safe practices. We implement best safety practice across our operations in collection, sorting, processing and recycling.

Carbon Footprint

ROC Recycling Solutions Ltd operates a Resource Recovery business, which manages waste in a manner which maximises the segregation, reuse and recycling of materials while minimising the volume sent for disposal. This is achieved by utilising the most modern technologies, ensuring regulatory compliance and working in partnership with customers.

While landfill has a role to play in Ireland’s waste management system, it is the lowest priority in the waste hierarchy as it is the least efficient at recovering materials and energy from the waste stream. It also has the greatest environmental impact.

The key objective for ROC Recycling is to minimise the volume of waste going to landfill.
